Connecting your Fergus account directly to Retention Track lets you link Fergus jobs to your contracts and pull the matching invoices in automatically — no more importing invoices by hand. This is a one-time setup.

⚠️ Before you begin

Retention Track matches your Fergus invoices to your Xero invoices, so you'll need Xero connected first. If you haven't done that yet, see Connecting to Xero. You should also already be recording retention on your Fergus invoices — see Fergus Best Practices.

Step 1: Connect your Fergus account

1. In Retention Track, open your user settings (click your profile, then Settings).

2. Find the Fergus Account Connection card. It will show as Not Connected.

3. Click Connect Fergus Account. You'll be taken to Fergus to sign in and approve the connection.

4. Once you approve, you'll be brought back to Retention Track and the card will show a green Connected badge.

Good to know: Each Fergus login is tied to a single Fergus organisation, so there's nothing to pick — connecting simply links your Fergus organisation to Retention Track.

Step 2: Link Fergus to your company

Next, tell Retention Track which of your companies this Fergus organisation belongs to.

1. Go to your company page in Retention Track.

2. Find the Fergus integration card and click Link to this company.

3. The card will confirm your company is now linked to your Fergus organisation, shown by name.

Checking or removing the connection

On the Fergus Account Connection card in your settings you can:

  • Check connection — confirms Retention Track can still reach Fergus.

  • Disconnect — removes the connection. Your contracts and their retention history stay exactly as they are; only the automatic link to Fergus is removed.

What's next

With Fergus connected and linked to your company, you're ready to link jobs to contracts and let invoices flow in automatically. See Getting Started with Fergus.
